Have you ever felt lost in life? Felt like a little guidance from someone would REALLY help, but felt like you didn’t have anyone to turn to?
My name is Yoon-Ah Cho, and I am the founder and life coach at Yooniversal Designs, where I connect with individuals to show them ways to design the lives they want to live through coaching that improves work-life balance, helps them become grounded, assists in finding their “why,” and provides information about available resources.
As a 1.75-generation Korean American, I grew up in poverty. My mother worked multiple jobs to support our family while my father attended university. At the young age of 14, I lost my mother to cancer due to inadequacies in the healthcare system for immigrants. Then, at 15, my father moved back to Korea, leaving my sister and me in the States, where I had to learn adult skills on my own while fighting my own demons.
I often wonder what life would have been like for me if I had a stronger support system at home—if I had a supportive immediate family to turn to when I was lost and hurting. However, I am immensely grateful for the people who came into my life to support me as much as they could and became my community. I know that this isn’t true for most people, and I recognize that I was fortunate to find community in the darkest days of my life.
That’s why this work is meaningful and important to me. I want to pay it forward to others who need a little support, want to dream a different dream, or need help finding their purpose, resources, and/or community.
I want people to feel like they are learning how to live their most authentic selves, no matter what phase of life they are in or how much support they need—or don’t need—at the time. Finding our purpose in life helps us connect with the world and others. Let me help guide you to find yours.
